Now that you have a website and you know how to put content (advertising) out on the web, how do you find out what people are searching for? When creating an online business it is very important to know what your customer wants BEFORE you start randomly advertising for your business. This online business 101 article goes over how to find out exactly what your customers are searching for so you can optimize your content.

Why Are Keywords So Important

First of all, keywords are simply the phrases people enter into a search engine like Google or yahoo when they want to find something. For example, if a person wants to find a place to get massages they would enter a search term (keyword) like “where to get a massage” or “best massage to relieve neck tension”. If you know that these are the terms people are searching for you can now post content (videos / articles) that are relevant to these search terms. If a person comes across your article or video in the search results and finds it interesting, they click on it and can be eventually lead to your website from that article or video.

How Do You Find Out Keywords People Are Using

This process is probably the most important part of your online businesses campaign, finding what keywords people are using. There are plenty of choices when it comes to what “keyword tool” to use. A keyword tool is what you use to find out what searches people are doing. You can choose one you like by searching for “keyword tool” in Google or yahoo.

I like to use “Google AdWords” to do my keyword research. It is free and it is the database used by Google to keep track of all the searches done on Google. It will show you how many people search for every specific term you want to do research on. It will not only show you how many people are using that search term (keyword), but will also show you other similar search terms people are using that you may be interested in and how much competition there is on each keyword. You can find AdWords by going to adwords.com and clicking on the “opportunity” tab at the top of the page. On the opportunity page there should be a link in the bottom left side of the page that says “keyword tool”.

How To Use The Keyword Tool

Once the keyword tool page is open you have the option of putting in a keyword phrase you want to see if people are searching for. So for example, you enter “how to build muscle” because you have a health supplement or book that helps build muscle. The page will then show you how many people are searching for that exact term and how many people are searching with other similar terms like “how to get built” or “how to get strong”. These are all terms you can choose to use as part of your campaign and enter them into your articles and videos. Depending on what authority site you are using there is usually a section where they give you the option of putting in the keywords you want to use. By using the right keywords and by putting out quality content your article or video can be found when people use the same keywords used in your campaign.

Using these online methods is called “attraction marketing” and can attract new targeted leads and customers to your online business on a daily basis which of course increases sales and profits. The next article will go even more into using attraction marketing and keywords to build your business quickly.

The “Creating an online business 101″ course is for the person that wants to create an online presence but hasn’t learned the necessary skills yet. For this reason David and Link2Profits started an ‘online marketing boot camp’ with a team of experienced online mentors and is offering the course, for free, to people interested in learning how to market online. The goal of the boot camp is to teach others how to achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations by applying strategies used by top internet marketers that help create multiple streams of income.

While nobody can really guarantee a #1 ranking on any search engine, it is no doubt to increase your chances markedly.

In order to rank high on Google, Yahoo or Bing, you need backlinks and a lot of them. Moreover, it is not too difficult to find out sites that you can put your links on, it is rather boring to get a larger mount of backlinks.

As you know, there are many factors determining how your sites rank on the search engine results page, links returning to your site from related pages, with the proper anchor text are likely the most significant component. That’s why an SEO link building service may help.

Once you build enough backlinks from related sites, with your keywords as anchor text, as the result, you will get on first page finally. How many backlinks depends on your keyword phrase and the competition for that phrase. Enough could be hundreds or could be thousands.

Do some keyword surveys to select which keywords are best to target at first. AdWords tool seems work effectively to see which terms are actually looked for and then head over to the search engine and see how much competition you have.

The more competition you have, the more related backlinks you’ll need in order to rank high.

If you have just a personal page and only want to rank for low competition keywords, 20 or 30 backlinks should be enough. But if you are in a business that has some kind of competition, a few backlinks will not help you too much. You either need to build a huge chunk of links or keep adding links on a regular basis.

Don’t get fooled by Mr. Google. If you search Google for backlinks, you will be shown with none or a few. If you do the same search on Yahoo (Site Explorer – Yahoo! Site Explorer), you will see many, many more pages. (Google will tell you exactly how many backlinks you have, but you have to sign up for the Google Webmaster Service (free)).

It looks like they want you to think that links are not the key. And even though you know they are important, they want you to believe you only need a handful to rank high, so they only show you a few.

It is advisable to use a reputable link building service to build up thousands of backlinks for you. You might see a short improvement in your ranking. It’s necessary for your to build links constantly to create a different story. Build related links every month and you’ll have an impressive amount in several short months.

A few hundred links are built monthly are very natural. Popular videos or funny stories that are shared by many people are also powerful in building backlinks. There are simply hundreds links that appear over night and I have only seen YouTube, Meta Cafe or any other video hub or web 2.0 property getting better and better rankings.

I advise that you build a decent number of backlinks to your site, using the keyword phrases THAT CONVERT. You do not want to rank for “Kites” but rather rank high for “buy Kites” or “I need Kites” or something similar with those. Hence, when you do your keyword research, ensure you approach the BUYERS, not the browsers. With buyers I mean anybody that would perform the desired action on your page.

If you have enough time, you can do the link building yourself, or you can outsource it and let a link building service do the work for you. The main thing is: Your goals targeted.

It is best to get links for your URL with your anchor text on high PR web sites. The PR can differ from 1 up to PR 5 or more. The web sites that you use for that are web 2.0 sites and blogs.

It is done by finding sites that have a high PR and contributing content that adds value to these these sites. This basically means to write related comments. It is very labor intensive task, but this way you only get links with very high quality, as the site owner has to approve the link. Once a link like that is in place it will usually stay there for years to come.

Noticing that all links are dofollow, from high Page Rank domains and the page itself is related to your keywords. That means your link gets real link juice from pages that are trusted by Google.

These custom-made links are the highest quality links you can get, aside from someone independently writing something nice about your product or service and publishing it on their web site.

As it does not make sense to build a bunch of links and then do nothing you should order it as an ongoing monthly service.

For further information about How to get thousands of backlinks per month, please visit author’s backlinks service site.
