In the recent past businesses have responded to the search engine marketing trend not out of innovation but due to necessity in response to their competitors’ success at it or merely due to customer demand. As they become more web savvy due to necessity, companies realize that they need a search engine marketing strategy that will complement their other marketing activities which supports and fits into the overall objectives of the of the company.

Deciding on and implementing an online marketing strategy draws on the principles of established strategic marketing planning. You simply need to incorporate e marketing techniques effectively in your marketing plan. With online marketing, the need for a greater responsive strategy which can ensure rapid reaction to events in the market place is essential. You will need to respond to trends and happenings and keep your online profile active in order to remain relevant in the online universe. Thus developing and investing in a traditional 5 year marketing plan may not be as effective as an online marketing strategy geared at remaining part of a continuous movement.

There exist numerous search engine marketing techniques which, if used correctly and continuously will significantly add to the success and visibility of your website’s natural or organic search engine ranking.

The value of each of the aspects that form the basis of a successful online marketing strategy should never be underestimated. As mentioned earlier, there are important techniques which can be employed to boost your website’s SEM status. The number one most important principle which is a building block any search engine marketing campaign is diligent keyword research. The fact of the matter is you cannot target an audience or consumer group unless you know which group to target. You will simply need to take the time to research the keywords which will best impact on your demographics. There are many free keyword research tools to be found online, but the most popular one is Google’s keyword checker.

You should understand the value of title tags straight from the off. By creating a keyword rich title tag and embedding that tag in the title section of your blog configuration or head section of the HTML document, you will already target a much more niche group of searchers, and your site or blog’s rating will greatly improve from this simple step. The next step that should enjoy your full attention is the creation of an SEO friendly description Meta tag. By creating a keyword rich description Meta tag which will be embedded in the your blog configuration or the head section of your HTML document, you are effectively telling the search engines what your page is about.

The words which feature in your linking structure should earn their place. They should be the keywords that you will be targeting. These are referred to as “anchor” text when used as phrases that will be linked from, and they inform search engines what the user is searching for based on the user’s ‘click’ actions. These are only intended as a guide to some of the most important factors, among a host of other important aspects to take into consideration when planning your search engine marketing strategy.

Now that you have a website and you know how to put content (advertising) out on the web, how do you find out what people are searching for? When creating an online business it is very important to know what your customer wants BEFORE you start randomly advertising for your business. This online business 101 article goes over how to find out exactly what your customers are searching for so you can optimize your content.

Why Are Keywords So Important

First of all, keywords are simply the phrases people enter into a search engine like Google or yahoo when they want to find something. For example, if a person wants to find a place to get massages they would enter a search term (keyword) like “where to get a massage” or “best massage to relieve neck tension”. If you know that these are the terms people are searching for you can now post content (videos / articles) that are relevant to these search terms. If a person comes across your article or video in the search results and finds it interesting, they click on it and can be eventually lead to your website from that article or video.

How Do You Find Out Keywords People Are Using

This process is probably the most important part of your online businesses campaign, finding what keywords people are using. There are plenty of choices when it comes to what “keyword tool” to use. A keyword tool is what you use to find out what searches people are doing. You can choose one you like by searching for “keyword tool” in Google or yahoo.

I like to use “Google AdWords” to do my keyword research. It is free and it is the database used by Google to keep track of all the searches done on Google. It will show you how many people search for every specific term you want to do research on. It will not only show you how many people are using that search term (keyword), but will also show you other similar search terms people are using that you may be interested in and how much competition there is on each keyword. You can find AdWords by going to adwords.com and clicking on the “opportunity” tab at the top of the page. On the opportunity page there should be a link in the bottom left side of the page that says “keyword tool”.

How To Use The Keyword Tool

Once the keyword tool page is open you have the option of putting in a keyword phrase you want to see if people are searching for. So for example, you enter “how to build muscle” because you have a health supplement or book that helps build muscle. The page will then show you how many people are searching for that exact term and how many people are searching with other similar terms like “how to get built” or “how to get strong”. These are all terms you can choose to use as part of your campaign and enter them into your articles and videos. Depending on what authority site you are using there is usually a section where they give you the option of putting in the keywords you want to use. By using the right keywords and by putting out quality content your article or video can be found when people use the same keywords used in your campaign.

Using these online methods is called “attraction marketing” and can attract new targeted leads and customers to your online business on a daily basis which of course increases sales and profits. The next article will go even more into using attraction marketing and keywords to build your business quickly.

The “Creating an online business 101″ course is for the person that wants to create an online presence but hasn’t learned the necessary skills yet. For this reason David and Link2Profits started an ‘online marketing boot camp’ with a team of experienced online mentors and is offering the course, for free, to people interested in learning how to market online. The goal of the boot camp is to teach others how to achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations by applying strategies used by top internet marketers that help create multiple streams of income.

It has often been said that; “dumb people talk about other people, smart people talk about events, and brilliant people talk about concepts,” and if this is true, we should be able to tell exactly how smart a population is overall, the intelligence factor, by the type of searches they do online. Even though there is a lot of talk about the dummying down factor the Internet is causing, other signs appear to contradict such statements.

For instance, I was amazed the other day when I learned that the most searched words on being, Yahoo, and Google were words that were both silly nonsense, and rather informational and educational. All the silly stuff had many more searches, and that was a scary thought when I looked at the most searched keywords. Perhaps, what we need are some search engines, which allow users to navigate away from Google’s main page to an Industry Search Page, Scientific Question Search Page, and/or search pages for information on countries where major world events are happening.

What I’m saying is not everyone is interested in searching out celebrity names, or Googling their friends on social networks. And we should not promote a dummying down of our society. We should make it easier for smart people to search those things they would like to search and promote learning. Why you ask?

Simple, we should not applaud the “dummying down” of our society and civilization by trumpeting the nonsense that people so often search. I realize that this is somewhat interesting to some folks, but I’d like to see an intellectual subset of searching choices, I’d like to have a customized Google algorithm, that fits my interests minus all the garbage online. Think on this.

Lance Winslow is a retired Founder of a Nationwide Franchise Chain, and now runs the Online Think Tank. Lance Winslow believes it’s hard to write 20,000 articles; http://www.bloggingcontent.net/

Deciding to add a paid search engine campaign to your online marketing plan is one of the fastest ways to get found online. The world of pay per click advertising can seem confusing and overwhelming. From different plans, to the process of bidding, some online business owners quickly fall into a money drain simply because they do not have the time or knowledge to properly plan and execute a Paid Search Marketing plan. Understanding how paid campaigns work, the different options available and even paid search engine marketing pricing can help you put together a campaign that will be successful and profitable.

PPC advertising is one of the most effective methods of ‘paid’ marketing available. Based on keywords, the business owner bids on placement of their ad. When a visitor clicks through to their site, a predetermined fee is charged. This system, when utilized and managed correctly can bring hundreds of new visitors to a site. Unfortunately, when poorly managed it can do little more than cost the advertiser money. What is unique about this system is the concept of bidding. Under PPC, multiple advertisers can bid on a set of keywords – the highest bid gets the slot. The trick is finding the best and least expensive keyword for your product; this may not be the same keyword for both “best” and “least expensive” unfortunately.

However, there are several websites that can help you determine which keywords to choose and even what the average bid is. Websites like Wordtracker and Spyfu offer you the ability to compare keywords on a variety of fronts. Average number of searchers, similar keywords and average bid data can help you determine the most cost effective keywords to use in your campaign. For example, if you are promoting a diet pill, you will quickly discover that while the keyword ‘diet pill’ gets over a million ‘hits’ per month – but the average bid for a PPC campaign based on this keyword is over $6.00. There are other, related keywords that have a lower average bid. They also have a lower average number of hits. Something more specific, like ‘Acai Green Tea Diet Supplement’ will cost less, and bring traffic that’s ready to purchase.

PPC is really a delicate balancing act. Choosing between average number of hits and average bid pricing is often a difficult choice and there really is no ‘right’ answer, at least at first. By selecting the higher volume, higher priced ad, you may get more clicks and pay more money. Most of these clicks will not result in conversions. Many online business owners find they have greater success with more unique keywords. They may not see as many hits on their site, but a greater percentage of the hits they do receive convert.

This is why keyword research and continual testing of ad copy, ad groups, landing pages are all essential at developing a winning combination of pricing, sales and ROI.

Hire a Professional Internet Marketing Company and pay them the management fee; the cost of the fee will be more than justified by the dollars saved by not wasting money on poor PPC decisions.

There are other methods of advertising. Banner ads are making resurging on the Google Content Network. Paid search engine marketing pricing for these ads varies on where the banner is placed. Once thought of as little more than an annoyance, many of today’s consumers are using banner ads to direct themselves where they want to go.

Paid marketing can be an excellent way to increase your visibility and conversion rates. Understanding the fluid nature of paid search engine marketing pricing can help you develop an adequate budget for your plan.

When was the last time you can remember using the phone book to look for a product or service? I bet it’s been so long that you don’t even remember!

The convenience and accuracy of the information that is available online, especially on Google, have gradually moved the consumer from the almost antiquated Yellow Pages to the first pages of the search engines.

The search engines are so information rich these days that even for an ingredient in a recipe, it could take less time to look it up online than searching for it in a cookbook. Besides, you might even get a wine suggestion and serving tips that could make your cooking experience more enjoyable.

Businesses have not been getting their moneys worth with the Yellow Pages and have been realizing that in order to be found, it is definitely time to establish a web presence on the internet. Yellow pages like many other print publications are gradually disappearing from the scene and being replaced by the virtual information platforms.

Latest studies show that 85% of the people that are looking for a product or service choose to reference the internet and almost 90% of them go straight to Google.

So, what does this mean? Well, it means that if you have a business and you want to stay in business for a long time and have the desire to expand, you will have no choice but reserving a commendable web presence where you are conspicuous and branded. You need to be where people are, not where people are not. That is why large national companies spend millions of dollars every month to dominate the high traffic websites of the world!

Fortunately, now it is also possible for small or medium size companies with low marketing budgets to position themselves effectively on the internet where they can be seen and contacted by their prospective customers within their geographically targeted market. To find out how you can position your business effectively online, please visit http://MarketingMasters101.info. It is a relief to know that now a small company with a very low budget can compete with a large company that has a colossal budget!

There is a very powerful way to make money on internet search engines! And the great thing is that you can do this absolutely free by using the right combination of techniques!

There are millions of searches done on the internet every day and as a marketer your aim is to answer as many of these enquiries as is possible. Each time you become the destination for a search you have a chance to sell the product they are looking for.

Think about the potential market for the right products for a minute.

One billion and a half people using the internet at present!

One million new users connecting every day!

79 million people in the United States alone will start a business in the next 3 years and the majority of these will be online!

Internet based home business is one of the major global growth areas right now!

So this is what you will need to dominate the front pages of the search engines and to make money on internet business success.

You will need a seriously cutting edge internet marketing education and training system to be able to be competitive in this environment.

You will need to be trained in article marketing, press release marketing, video marketing, web 2.0 marketing, Search Engine Optimization and keyword research.

With this training you will need to submit content in a range of different formats to a range of the biggest sites on the internet. To secure top google placement you have to really take action. A great keyword is essential and it has to be one that people are typing in but is not targeted by too many other sites. SEO techniques are the icing on the cake.

But also you need to consider these points in order to make money on internet marketing:

Many of us start our home based business purely as a way to earn some extra income. After looking around the Internet for ideas it quickly becomes apparent to most (particularly those of us with limited or no computer skills or Internet marketing knowledge) that the quickest and easiest way to get started is by way of affiliate marketing. We fast realise that the only way to build a strong and lasting business is to stop promoting the site provided to us by the affiliate program and build our own website to market the affiliate product, and what a thrill it is when we type in the URL of our site and there it is, our first true Internet presence.

Once built and hosted we then rush to the search engines and type in the title name of our website, somehow expecting to see it at the top of the listing. Oh the disappointment when out of the thousands or millions of results that pop up, our site cannot be found, time and time again we return in a vain hope that somehow things will have changed and our site will miraculously appear at the top of the listing only to be met with more disappointment.

After learning how to actually market and gain exposure for our web site we eventually find our site on page 2 of the mighty Google (like most people I never look past page 2), and the sense of satisfaction and achievement is marred only by the fact that we are not on page 1. Naturally we redouble our efforts because now the only important thing is to appear on page one. Eventually, and perhaps quite soon if we have correctly learnt our new trade, we enter our search term and there we are on the coveted page 1 of Google. Of course once achieved that is not nearly enough, now we want the top slot, we want to be No1 on page 1 but not just on Google, we want the other major search engines as well, Yahoo and Bing also hold a tremendous prestige when our site is listed at No 1.

Every morning I type the name of my web site into the search engines (Bing shows over 27 million results) and the thrill of seeing my web site at No1 is much, much greater even than the thrill of seeing my bank account growing bigger the longer I can stay there.

Glynn Sole gets a thrill from seeing his Home Based Business consistently appear on page one of the major search engines as he searches for the the name, Earnalot. He achieved this in less than three weeks and at the time of writing has now remained on page 1 for about 12 weeks, usually occupying three slots on Google and the No 1 or 2 slot on Bing (out of over 27 million results)

Glynn also makes regular posts to Glynn’s Blog

While nobody can really guarantee a #1 ranking on any search engine, it is no doubt to increase your chances markedly.

In order to rank high on Google, Yahoo or Bing, you need backlinks and a lot of them. Moreover, it is not too difficult to find out sites that you can put your links on, it is rather boring to get a larger mount of backlinks.

As you know, there are many factors determining how your sites rank on the search engine results page, links returning to your site from related pages, with the proper anchor text are likely the most significant component. That’s why an SEO link building service may help.

Once you build enough backlinks from related sites, with your keywords as anchor text, as the result, you will get on first page finally. How many backlinks depends on your keyword phrase and the competition for that phrase. Enough could be hundreds or could be thousands.

Do some keyword surveys to select which keywords are best to target at first. AdWords tool seems work effectively to see which terms are actually looked for and then head over to the search engine and see how much competition you have.

The more competition you have, the more related backlinks you’ll need in order to rank high.

If you have just a personal page and only want to rank for low competition keywords, 20 or 30 backlinks should be enough. But if you are in a business that has some kind of competition, a few backlinks will not help you too much. You either need to build a huge chunk of links or keep adding links on a regular basis.

Don’t get fooled by Mr. Google. If you search Google for backlinks, you will be shown with none or a few. If you do the same search on Yahoo (Site Explorer – Yahoo! Site Explorer), you will see many, many more pages. (Google will tell you exactly how many backlinks you have, but you have to sign up for the Google Webmaster Service (free)).

It looks like they want you to think that links are not the key. And even though you know they are important, they want you to believe you only need a handful to rank high, so they only show you a few.

It is advisable to use a reputable link building service to build up thousands of backlinks for you. You might see a short improvement in your ranking. It’s necessary for your to build links constantly to create a different story. Build related links every month and you’ll have an impressive amount in several short months.

A few hundred links are built monthly are very natural. Popular videos or funny stories that are shared by many people are also powerful in building backlinks. There are simply hundreds links that appear over night and I have only seen YouTube, Meta Cafe or any other video hub or web 2.0 property getting better and better rankings.

I advise that you build a decent number of backlinks to your site, using the keyword phrases THAT CONVERT. You do not want to rank for “Kites” but rather rank high for “buy Kites” or “I need Kites” or something similar with those. Hence, when you do your keyword research, ensure you approach the BUYERS, not the browsers. With buyers I mean anybody that would perform the desired action on your page.

If you have enough time, you can do the link building yourself, or you can outsource it and let a link building service do the work for you. The main thing is: Your goals targeted.

It is best to get links for your URL with your anchor text on high PR web sites. The PR can differ from 1 up to PR 5 or more. The web sites that you use for that are web 2.0 sites and blogs.

It is done by finding sites that have a high PR and contributing content that adds value to these these sites. This basically means to write related comments. It is very labor intensive task, but this way you only get links with very high quality, as the site owner has to approve the link. Once a link like that is in place it will usually stay there for years to come.

Noticing that all links are dofollow, from high Page Rank domains and the page itself is related to your keywords. That means your link gets real link juice from pages that are trusted by Google.

These custom-made links are the highest quality links you can get, aside from someone independently writing something nice about your product or service and publishing it on their web site.

As it does not make sense to build a bunch of links and then do nothing you should order it as an ongoing monthly service.

According to the most recent marketing tests and surveys there are increasing numbers of anxious buyers that are using search engines to research and find local merchant web sites before starting out on their shopping sprees. Stop for a moment and ask yourself – can your customers and potential customer’s find your business on-line? Or are they instead finding your competitors on-line?

If you’ve been asking yourself if having a visible and effective on-line presence and marketing strategy is important, then let me answer this for you now in one word. YES! If you have an effective presence on-line it is important way to get in front of your customers.

Statistics on local searching trends have shown that more and more people are looking for local information by the use of search engines. Studies have shown that search engines such as Yahoo, MSN and Google were the major source of information and data for local customers.

The TMP Directional Marketing study in July, 2008, revealed that significant numbers of local seekers had taken some type of action. Action such as, calling, in store visits and they often send email to the businesses that they feel will be able to help them.

The largest indicator of this growing momentum towards local searches is Google’s disclosure of up to ten local searches within their natural listings. Regional and local directory sites have become extremely more viewable. This is because of the simple fact that the large major search engines such as, Yahoo, MSN, and Google are giving a much greater ranking in their search engine results.

This is in no way a short term craze but an extremely seeable trend. Each day that passes larger numbers of your customers and potential clients are searching on-line. Do not make the mistake of overlooking these trends or your customers needs.

In this section I will talk about internet search engines and the different types and different SEO tools. There are so many different types of free engines. Being able to optimize for all of them is near impossible so just try and stick to a few guidelines.

1. Keywords, This is one of the most important issues when it comes to web search engines because they run off keywords.

2. Content, You must have a lot of keyword targeted content for the search engines to find your site and all of it must be relevant and related to the basic website theme.

3. Meta tags, these days engines try to find pages with the right content and not so much the right meta tags any more but it is still a good idea to optimize your tags.

4. Links, Now there are numerous types of links that the free search engines look for the first one is outgoing links which are links within your website that send the visitor to a related site.

Now the reason search engines mostly Google look for this is because they are trying to involve the human element and they think that the more out going links there are the more info will be available to the visitor.

The next type of link is incoming. Its not necessary to have these for rankings but it will help Google robots spider your site faster. The last type of link is links within you own site and those just help Google robots navigate your site better. So if you just stick to these simple rules you shouldn’t have to buy any SEO tools.
